ADVANCED DISCLOSURE CHECKS
For some courses where the students may have a work experience placement working with children or vulnerable adults the College requires the successful applicants to undergo enhanced disclosure checks. For these courses you are also required to disclose all convictions both spent and unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exception) (Scotland) Order 2003. The Act states that any person who comes into contact with young people under the age of 18 during their course must declare all previous convictions – spent or not. Therefore failure to do so may result in dismissal from your course. This applies only to all care courses and some sports courses.
On submitting you are consenting to the college approaching your referee(s) to take up references.
As a student of Borders College, you are agreeing to honour the payment of fees.
Please Note: where course fees are applicable, it is the student's responsibility to ensure correct funding is in place, and failure to provide the correct documentation will result in you being responsible for the payment of course fees.
